Teamer – Technical Support Recipeint

We are delighted to announce that we have been selected by the TEAMER – Testing Expertise and Access for Marine Energy Research Technical Board to be a Technical Support Recipient in the RFTS18 call in collaboration with Verdantas Flow Labs đź’¦ 🙌 .

On September 15, 2026, the U.S. Testing Expertise and Access to Marine Energy Research (TEAMER) program announced the approval of 30 projects of which GKinetic Energy is one!!. The support provided across all of the projects includes testing expertise and access to numerical modeling, laboratory or bench testing, tank/flume testing, expertise, and commercialization support within the growing TEAMER Facility Network.

Verdantas is an integrated environmental science, engineering, and consulting firm. Together we will address a pressing question in riverine hydrokinetic energy conversion technology, how do fish interact with submerged cross-flow turbines. Having this world renowned team assess our technology is a vital step in demonstrating to environmental regulators and customers that our technology poses little threat to fish.

Congratulations to all selected TSRs and a big THANK YOU to TEAMER for this incredible support. We can’t wait to get started! 🥳 If you’d like to know more about this great organisation and the other recipients of this call check out the TEAMER website.

The Energy Canvas Podcast

Can rivers help power Ireland’s energy future?

Gary Brennan GKinetic Energy CTO featured on the Energy Canvas podcast hosted by Celtic Dynamics discussing GKinetic Energy technology development and the blockers in place which have slowed down the deployment of our distributedenergy technology which could greatly enhance our energy security as a country and play a vital role in the decarbonisation of our country.

Dylan Walsh of Celtic Dynamics spoke with Gary on The Energy Canvas Podcast about the potential of hydrokinetic energy and how free-flowing rivers could provide predictable, local renewable power.
The conversation explored:

• Why hydrokinetic energy differs from traditional hydropower
• The role of predictable renewable generation in energy security
• Community-led energy projects and decentralised power systems
• The regulatory challenges facing emerging energy technologies
• How river energy could complement wind and solar generation

GKinetic were delighted to have this opportunity and we would encourage you to listen back to what was a great discussion! Listen now to the Podcast

Roisin Mc Cormack, COO and Co-Founder of GKinetic Energy, was invited to speak at Aprils South East Sustainability Cluster on Tuesday, the 28th of April 2026 at 6pm at GreentechHQ,

GreenTechHQ stands as Ireland’s premier Business, Innovation, and Sustainability Centre of Excellence, dedicated to transforming SMEs in the South East region through a holistic approach to business growth and sustainability. They are extremly active and have exciting events happening every month focusing on the different aspects of business and sustainability.

Róisín was delighted to be invited. She focused on explaining how GKinetic Energys hydrokinetic technology is unlocking clean, predictable energy from free-flowing water—shaping the future of small-scale renewable power.

The event was really well attended. Roisin said “it was a truly invigorating event to be involved with and one of the best events she has been asked to speak at”

GKinetic strongly suggests you check out GreentechHQ to see the great work they do and watch out for future events.

The Irish Times features GKinetic

Thank you so much to The Irish Times and Caroline O’Doherty for featuring our story and to Fergus and all the team at Murph’s GastroPub in Butlers Bridge Co Cavan. We are assessing the viability of installing an array of our machines and to ascertain what will be required to get planning permission to use our world-first technology that would allow Fergus premises run on power from the river outside his front door.

To quote Fergus “We are experiencing higher and higher energy bills and more uncertainty about our future energy security. Meanwhile, we’re watching energy literally flowing past us out the window,” he said. You can read the full article HERE

We have had a fantastic response which is not that suprising given the current situation with energy security for Irish homes and businesses. Our team at GKinetic Energy are determined to see river energy done right, starting right here in Ireland where the direct benefits of clean, reliable energy are delivered right to those alongside these waterways 🙌 We have the tech and we definitely have the demand and we are currently fundraising to get these projects operational as quickly as possible. Anyone interested please do get in touch info@gkinetic.com

SEAI show RDS

Gary Brennan CTO attended the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) Energy Show in the RDS Dublin on Wednesday 22nd April week on behalf of GKinetic Energy. With preparation for the companies first commercial pilots now underway, that will see stations of our river units deployed, GKinetic are looking for partners for some key aspects of these projects.

Gary attended the Accelerating Innovation: Explore Funding Opportunities for Energy Research and Innovation Seminar 10:30am-12:30pm given by Lise-Ann Sheahan Charlotte O’Kelly Kerrie Sheehan Brendan Cahill Francesca Martini philip cheasty, which was hugely informative. He also had the opportunity to present the GKinetic technology at the Pitch Your Idea session which was really well received.

RISEnergy Water to WATTS

We are incredibly grateful for the support and the recent spotlight from RISEnergy regarding our recent testing at the Ifremer facility in France. As an SME, having access to world-class infrastructures like the Wave and Current Flume Tank through the Transnational Access Programme has been a game-changer for GKinetic. This opportunity allowed us to move beyond modelling and into rigorous, real-world testing of our 3kW turbine, providing the vital data we need to refine our technology and accelerate our path to commercialisation. A huge thank you to the RISEnergy team for championing innovators and helping us bring sustainable hydrokinetic solutions closer to the market!

Interested in following our lead? Applications for the current RISEnergy Transnational Access Call are open until April 26. If you are a researcher or innovator looking to scale your tech, we highly recommend checking it out! Read the full post from RISEnergy HERE

Galway Energy Summit

This day last week Gary Brennan our CTO had a very interesting and enlightening day at the Galway Energy Summit. He thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the panel discussion on energysecurity alongside Meadhbh C., Avril NĂ Shearcaigh and Eamonn O’Reilly, moderated by Rory Monaghan. For such a disparate group of panelists there was one issue which united everyone and which was echoed from the audience. The policies which both guide and limit our regulatory systems are too slow to change and we are once again being left behind by our neighbours in Europe when it comes to the implementation of renewable energy measures.

Muireann Lynch from Economic and Social Research Institute (ESRI) in the keynote made the point that the first major step to decarbonisation happened behind the meter, as the electricity generation method changed from mainly fossil fuels, but this required little behavioral change on our part. The next steps require us to not only change how we use this energy, but if we want to move to a fully decarbonised country and aim for NetZero by 2050, we have to be realistic about how we can get there. This means more renewable generation capacity such as wind, solar, biogas and being more accepting of these proposals. We are adding GKinetic Energy in there as she did mention the role of new technologies.

A huge thanks to the Energy Society University of Galway for organising such an important event which gives the opportunity for our next generation of energy pioneers to engage with industry, the citizens of Galway and the people who are trying to change the narrative on energy. In particular Pawel Gorski, Anna Connors, Cara Grealish, Michael Faherty, CaitrĂona NicDhonnchadha did a great job and thank you once again for the invite.

Kildavin Community Engagement Event

Community at the Heart of Clean Energy 🌊
We had a fantastic turnout at our community engagement event last Thursday at Conway’s Bar & Restaurant in Kildavin, Co. Carlow. A sincere thank you to everyone who joined us to share their thoughts, ideas, and local expertise.
